Technical background
Firewall flow logs
Each log entry represents a connection flow evaluated against inline rules. Key fields map to standard firewall log formats (similar to NetFlow/IPFIX extended with policy metadata).
Flow results
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| passed | Matched an allow rule |
| implicit_deny | No rule matched — default deny |
Forensics use
Firewall logs are essential for incident response — identifying compromised hosts (unusual outbound connections), blocked attack attempts, and policy misconfigurations.
